“Right to Try” bills allow extremely sick people to use treatments that are not currently allowed to them under federal regulations. Passage into law and actions to put these bills into effect nullify in practice some Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rules that prevent treatments from being used by terminally-ill patients. Right to Try Model legislation was created by the Goldwater Institute.

Blue – Introduced. Yellow – Passed one or more Houses. Green – Passed both Houses. Red – Law.
